Widson Cameau was born on July 4th, 2985 in Port-au-Prince, where he attended primary and secondary school. At the age of 8, he began painting against the wishes of his father, Rameau Cameau, who was a well-known artist. Eventually, his father became aware of his son’s artwork after it was discovered by Widson’s cousin (daughter of renowned artist Calixte Henri) and finally affirmed his son’s talent for painting. Thus, at the age of 15, Widson began working with his father by sharing a studio and critiquing each other’s work. Rameau and Widson spent 16 years painting together until his father died suddenly in a car accident in 2014. Nonetheless, Widson continues to bring beautiful works of art into the world, painting with his father’s memory in his heart.
